Aleksandar is a 2013 graduate of Drexel University with a degree in economics and finance. Aleksandar is originally from Smederevo, the Republic of Serbia.
Aleksandar began his rowing career in 2001. He was a member of the Serbian National Team from 2003 to 2009 where he won a silver medal in the pair in 2006 at Junior World Championships, and a bronze in 2009 at U23 World Championships. Aleksandar also won three 5th place medals at World Junior and U23 Championships. He was a member of the four that placed 8th at European Championships. Aleksandar is an eight-time national champion of Serbia in the pair, four and the eight. He also served as a co-captain of the Rowing Team Smederevo from 2006 to 2009. In 2006, Aleksandar was awarded the title of second best athlete in the Republic of Serbia as well as best athlete in his native region. During this period his native rowing club was continually awarded as the best sports club in the region.
At Drexel, Aleksandar was a member of the varsity eight all four years. His team won bronze at 2012 Dad Vail Regatta in the heavyweight varsity eight, and historical gold, Drexel’s first ever gold medal in heavyweight varsity eight, at 2013 Dad Vail Regatta. Aleksandar competed in the heavyweight eight that represented Drexel for the first time at IRAs in 2012 and 2013. He participated at Henley Royal Regatta in UK.
In addition to his rowing success, Aleksandar coached women’s high school rowers and masters in the US, and novice boys for 2 seasons at his native rowing club in Serbia.
